Critical Essays Assignments Writing

A critical essay entails examining information and situations.  Critical essays are important in analyzing informing, asking questions and challenging ideas presented by different authors. The term critical is linked with criticism, but in academics students are supposed to show the strengths and weaknesses of a certain point of view.  When writing essays students should give a detailed analysis of a topic. Writing critical essays is not easy for many learners, as students do not have critical thinking skills, problem solving skills and analytical skills. Many students are not conversant with the format of critical essays and how the essays are written. When writing critical essays students should follow the following steps.  First, they should select the topic to be examined.  The topic depends on the course they are pursuing. Students can examine a movie, play or any other topic.  The topic selected can be broad or narrow. Students should be care when selecting topics for their assignment to ensure they select the best topics. Wide topics should be narrowed down.  Students should pick a subtopic from the topic and discuss it. The topic should not be too narrow as this affects the quality of the assignment. This is because students do not have adequate information to support their topic.

Second, they should develop a thesis statement. The statement must be similar to the topics of the essays. The thesis should be simple and clear. Third, students should prepare a rough draft and outline for their critical essays. The rough draft should be developed according to the outline. It should be detailed enough to enable the reader to understand the topic. The rough draft should be submitted for approval to the instructor.  After the instructor has approved the draft, students should start writing their papers.  Students should follow the format provided by the instructor when writing their critical essays.

Though different instructors provide different formats for their papers, critical essays should have three parts.  They should have an introduction, body and conclusion. Students should start writing critical essays by writing the introduction.  The introduction should give a brief background of the topic being discussed to enable the reader to understand it. The introduction should catch the attention of the reader and motivate him or her to read the assignment. The student should restate the thesis in introduction and subtopics that will be examined in the critical essays.  After completing the introduction, they should write the body of the critical essays. The body of the assignment can differ from one paper to another depending on the format given by the instructor and student interest. Students should include all the necessary subtopics in the body of the assignment. The subtopics should be clearly addressed and supported using relevant materials and points.

Lastly, they should write a conclusion. The conclusion is a summary of the critical essays. Students should summarize their work and restate their thesis statements. They should also create a reference list using the sources used. The sources should be listed in an alphabetical order and written according to writing style used. They should also include in text citations and they should be well written as they contribute to students grades.
